The Brewery Quarter is dreaming of a white Christmas, as we celebrate the launch of Frozen 2 at Cineworld with this year’s annual switch on event titled ‘Let it Snow’.
Regulars to The Brewery Quarter’s popular annual event can enjoy the usual host of entertainment from local acts. From 3pm onwards, we welcome newcomer singer Savanna Lee, Lakeside School choir, Anneli dance group, Cheltenham Children’s Choir, The Music Man, panto stars from the Everyman Theatre and a chance to see the two Winter Princesses and snowman along with a host of other princesses, superheros and Star Wars characters who will be posing for pictures among the crowds.
Father Christmas will arrive shortly before 6:30pm to turn on the lights, with guaranteed snow at the switch on, and elsewhere within the show! Finally Camilla Lewington and her band Just Shut Up and Dance will keep the crowds dancing after Santa turns on the lights.
Across the whole weekend, visitors can also enjoy a Christmas arts and crafts market and purchase some unique and quirky gifts for loved ones.
The event is run in conjunction with Cheltenham town centre’s light switch on event, with events happening across the town all day. Inspired by Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol”, three larger than life puppets of the ghosts of Christmas will lead crowds through the town, reminding us that Christmas is a time for people to come together.
At 4:30pm, one ghost will start at The Brewery Quarter; one from near Cambray Place and the other from Montpellier. As they tell their stories, they will meet near Neptune’s Fountain and gather near The Queens Hotel to join Father Christmas to switch on the town centre lights at 5:30pm.
