THE BREWERY QUARTER is delighted to announce the arrival of Mowgli, the renowned home of Indian street food. Mowgli is located next to The Botanist and opposite one of the site’s newest additions The Alchemist, and opened in August 2021.
After a meteoric expansion from its first opening in Liverpool just six years ago, this opening is their lucky number 13. The 2,660 sq ft site is situated within The Brewery Quarter scheme next to The Botanist (opened 2018) and opposite The Alchemist (opened 2020) and houses approximately 80 covers.
The Mowgli ethos is based on how Indians eat at home and on their streets and the Mowgli menu is a far cry from the stereotypical curry. The simple dishes convey the truth that real Indian food is extremely healthy, often vegan or plant based and always packed with fresh flavour and vitality.
Nikki Kontarines, Asset Manager of Martin Commercial Properties, Managing Agents of The Brewery Quarter said: “We are delighted to welcome Mowgli to The Brewery Quarter. We feel that Mowgli is the perfect fit alongside our other quality operators. With the multi-million pound refurbishment and expansion of Cineworld VIP and the new additions of The Alchemist, Escape Hunt, Hub Box and F45, we believe we’re really playing our part in enriching Gloucestershire’s hospitality and leisure scene.”
Nisha Katona, founder of Mowgli said: “Out of the ashes of a decimated 2020 we hope to raise this sweet fledgling Indian home kitchen in The Brewery Quarter. I have always been a fan of Cheltenham. To be able to take Mowgli there, to create 30 jobs, to find and support a local charity there makes me so proud. We exist to enrich the life in the places we go to – Cheltenham I hope we make you proud.”
Mowgli has become synonymous with quality, authentic, Indian food. A Mowgli dining experience was borne to share dishes full of fresh, bright, intense flavour, it is not a hushed, dining affair, it is vibrant, stimulating and mouth-watering. In 2018 Mowgli was awarded a place in The Sunday Times Fast Track 100 list and in 2019, owner Nisha Katona, a former barrister, was awarded an MBE for her services to the Food Industry.
Nisha features regularly on television and radio as a restaurant, food and business expert and is the author of three acclaimed cookery books.
